This is a water lily I purchased yesterday. Isn’t it beautiful? Water lilies will hopefully have covered much of the pond surface by the time it gets hot. I’ve read (but don’t quote me) that you should cover about two-thirds of the surface with vegetation to keep a proper balance. This is to help control the algae and provide a cool place for the fish.
This is how fast everything is growing behind the pond. There are various herbs: lavender, oregano, rosemary and mint. Coreopsis, daisies, dusty miller, iris, and several sedums.
And of course the various "creatures" peaking out here and there!

Love the new water lily. The herbs look luscious too, I can practically smell them. I have always loved Dusty Miller (as well as lamb’s ear – don’t see any in this picture, but I’ll bet you have some in the lovely garden somewhere!).
Happy weekend!

The Water Lily IS beautiful! I love the garden next to it, especially the little creature poking out his head from the flowers
